I offer one-to-one psychotherapy and counselling in Frome ( Somerset ) helping you address any of a range of personal issues in a confidential environment. I also offer "One-off" Dream Analysis sessions, supervision for Counsellors & Psychotherapists and Alternative Practitioners.

I have over 13 years experience in this work. My background includes trainings in Integrative-Psychosynthesis and Core-Process Psychotherapy. I have had many years of experience of Jungian analysis and supervision, and have been active in the Clients Voice movement. I worked for seven years in the Art Therapy Department of a Psychiatric Hospital and have been supervisor to an Inner City Drugs project and the Dementia Care Trust counselling service. After an extended break, including a move from Bristol to Frome and becoming a father, I now combine this work with family life and the more practical work of renovating local buildings.

A cornerstone of my work is a respect for each person’s individual uniqueness. It is difficult to describe how our work will proceed because of your individual nature and the circumstances or problem that you bring. Generally we would meet for one hour, once a week to talk things through. Hopefully through this you will gain insight into the problem you are facing, enabling you to make more conscious choices in how you deal with it. Often the issue that brings us into therapy is experienced as an impossible impasse or as a personal defeat (who would go to therapy otherwise?) but sometimes this can turn into a gift that opens us to a more soulful life. Psychotherapy means “to attend to soul”, and our problems can be our soul’s way of drawing our attention to a deeper and more meaningful life.

As you may see from other pages on this website, I have chosen not to become an accreditted practitioner. I could be, I've completed sufficient training and worked with the requisite number of clients etc.. If seeing someone who is willing to blindly jump through all the relevant hoops to become accreditted is important to you, or if you are not able to trust your own judgement as to whether I am ethical in my work and would rather trust some remote organisation to assess that, then I suggest you find another practitioner. Elsewhere on this website you can find more information about my thoughts on accreditation or you could come and meet me and explore for yourself whether, or how much, you can trust me. Students in Counselling or Psychotherapy training may find it more beneficial to see me after (rather than during) their training to help free themselves from that training. The paradox of training is that in order to pass, the student has to conform and such compromises, unless recognised, are to the detriment of their own true working style and clients.
